Pillars of eternity ps4 quick save Patch#
Luckily the game saves often and you can quick save whenever you wish, but it is annoying that it is happening so frequently even after a major patch (I'm playing on a base PS4 so not sure if the same situation applies on the Pro or not). The second issue I have is the constant hard crashes the game has, which I seem to get every session I play (say every 2-3 hours) & almost always its when I'm either exiting the Kingdom management section or leaving my throne room. The first is the Kingdom management part of the game which, while I admit is not as bad as I first thought it would be, can easily bog you down when you are constantly having to return to your throne room to keep on top of mounting problems when you just want to be out adventuring and progressing the story etc, and the fact that you can apparently get a 'game over' (regardless of story progress) if you don't keep on top of it, takes the shine off what is otherwise a great game. Thankfully, you can switch between either style simply by pressing R3 so you don't have to stick to just one combat style and can mix it up on the fly whenever you wish, which is a nice touch I thought.Īs with all positives though there has to be some negatives and there are a couple of issues with Pathfinder that can't be ignored unfortunately. As in Pillars, there is the option to play real time with pause or turn based, however, as you can have 6 members (or more with additional animal companions) in your team, turn based can feel very slow & time consuming and there is quite a lot of combat in the game. Voice acting is a bit hit & miss, some characters sound ok but some feel a little stiff or awkward (Amiri for instance sounds more like an angry American soccer mom than a rough & ready Barbarian), but it doesn't detract from the overall experience.Ĭombat is pretty good too once you know what you're doing, although it does feel like spellcasting characters always seem to have more & better weapons/options at their disposal when levelling up than melee or archer type characters. Graphically the game is ok and probably what you would expect from a CRPG, while sound is also fine with some memorable tunes in there. The loading times in Pathfinder are still frequent but a lot less intrusive than in Pillars of Eternity and while the controls/menus/gameplay take a while to get to grips with, once you get the hang of it and your characters start to level up everything flows more naturally and things begin to make sense.

Having played & enjoyed (despite the ridiculous loading times) Pillars of Eternity 2 on PS4 earlier this year, I decided to give Pathfinder: Kingmaker a go and so far I'm not too disappointed and personally would say it is the better game out of the two as I like the story and characters much more here.
